The story behind

Inspired by the bright, graphic patterns of jockeys’ silks, these three vases were created on the island of Murano, the home of Venice’s master glassmakers. The artisan creates what is known as "cased" glass, composed of a transparent layer and a colored layer, by mouth-blowing the molten material. When cold, sections of the colored glass are then ground away to create patterns. This extremely precise know-how reveals different interplays of color and transparency on each vase.
